The seventh specimen from L’Herbier des Souverains, an imagined botanical archive devoted to rulers whose kingdoms have disappeared from every map.

Le Souverain de Novembre is preserved with the remains of a country that survives only in fragments.

Its capital rises from his crown: a cathedral growing where his thoughts should be. Around it, the last vegetation of the kingdom has continued to bloom long after the country itself disappeared.

A bird remains among the leaves — the last citizen still capable of speaking the language of the vanished realm.

The branch crossing the sovereign’s mouth records a treaty he was never allowed to break. Pearls remain on his garments as the last human trace of a court that no longer exists.

Behind him, the landscape is not a backdrop. It is the country itself.

The herbarium preserves what the map could not.
